I randomly came across this video tonight, and I thought they did a really lovely job on it. One of my favorite things about living here is that there are more parks than one can shake a stick at. I do love Dolores because, like my fav dive bar, I can show up anytime and most likely my friends will be there. And if I am not in the mood to be social there's a slew of other parks in SF, about 45.

The Düsseldorf School of Photography is a new book that highlights over 160 images in an astounding examination of the scope of the Düsseldorf School from the early 1970s to today. What most might stamp as mundane industrial buildings are captured with an objective eye. Beautiful.

Toronto based imm Living creates modern cultural artifacts by drawing from traditional and popular cultures. The totem cup collection tosses a nod and a wink to the early Native American tradition of totem pole carving. And the "amen" salt & pepper shakers are hysterical, ahem, ya know, unless you're into blessing your dinner. I guess people do that for real. Either way, I dig em.

Well, Pride Weekend has come and gone again. It was a beautiful, sunny couple of days here in SF. Top photo is a man who wins best beard of the year award (in my book) he was participating in the Bicycle Contingent and below are two total cutie pies and their poster made me tear up so I had to post it. Yay Gays!

Honey, I shrunk the Mission..

These tiny installations have been popping up in the mission over the past couple of months. I heard one showed up in Noe Valley as well. These were found in Albion alley sharing a wall the Kilowatt. I have no idea who is behind this but it is rumored a collective named "Elsewhere Public Works Agency" has been installing these mini doors, walls, widows and water meters all over the city for the past year. I tried to look them up and found some very um... strange... things..

BART art.

Whoever said public transportation is a drag isn't doing it right. April 27th, 2009 a group (?) of rad bandits hung 3 swings in a northbound BART train and took off. I don't know who is behind this but I love! The swings seemed to be quite popular with BART patrons too. I found more photos on flickr.

Infra Ed

MichiLauke snapped some beautiful photos using an infrared lens. Ordinary objects reflect infrared in proportions that differ from that of visible light, this transforms everyday green vegetation into white.

Oliver Halsman Rosenberg explores the peculiar angle of famous grandfather Phillippe Halsman in a new collection entitled 'Unknown Halsman'. Oliver spent two years sorting through the more iconic public images, private sessions, and family snapshots. End result is a genius collage of outtakes, quotes, and experimental portraits.

Queen Bee

Koko Taylor, The Queen of the Blues, dies at age 80 on June 3, 2009. Her version of Ellington Jordan's 'I'd rather go blind' is far above the rest and in my opinion the most convincing. Check out The Earthshaker it is one of my favorite albums, ever... very sad. RIP

Phantasmagorica

Cecile Bortoletti's photographs are quite beautiful. Her work can be seen in Dazed and Confused, Self Service, Crash, Purple, Studio Voice, Big, Barfout as well as in Libé Style, 20 ans, Jalouse.

Montgolfier

Icinori is an illustration/publishing project by Mayumi Otero & Raphael Urwiller who are students at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg. Everything is hand printed, hand bounded, hand cut and hand made. I love the colors, the textures and the funny little stories they tell. I want the 'mighty vegetables' print for my kitchen.

As we all know, I heart Ronson landed in JCPenny stores nationwide this Spring. Last month I randomely found myself at JCPenny with my mother and was pleasantly surprised at how cute the collection was. Charlotte Ronson offers up a range of casual and dressy styles from cotton T-shirts and tanks, cotton sweaters and cardigans, a cotton canvas army jacket, leggings, denim jeans and printed polyester and cotton voile dresses. Affordable, wearable goodies at a better quality than the usual quick fixes at XXI and H&M.
